The National Gallery (Narodni galerie)
The collection of the National Gallery is exhibited in six different locations; the Sternberg Palace, St George's Convent, the Convent of St Agnes of Bohemia, Veletrzni Palace, Zbraslav Castle and Kinský Palace.

The Sternberg Palace is the main building of the National Gallery, exhibiting European art from the fourteenth to the eighteenth centuries. The collection includes a fine selection of master works by artists including Picasso, van Gogh, Holbein, Dürer, Bruegel, Rubens, van Dyck, El Greco, Goya, Gaugin and Braque.

St George’s Convent contains the National Gallery of old art collections, that is Czech Baroque painting of the 17th and 18th century, including Mannerism artists of the court of Rudolf II.

The National Gallery's modern collection is housed in a vast Constructivist masterpiece built in the mid-1920s, which provides an appropriate setting for the works inside. The exhibition features a huge selection of twentieth-century Czech art, as well as many superb European works from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

Kinsky Palace, is regarded as the most beautiful Rococo building in Prague. Franz Kafka used to attend a grammar school there at the turn of the 20 th century and later it became an exhibition space of the National Gallery in Prague. The exhibition of landscape in Czech art from 17 th to the 20 th century is situated there.

Old Town Hall and City Gallery Prague

Housed in the beautiful fourteenth-century Old Town Hall, the City Gallery Prague exhibits work from its permanent collection of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.The permanent collection of sculpture, painting and graphics includes the work of Alfons Mucha, Jaroslav Cermak, Vaclav Brozik, Emil Filla, Josef Vaclav Myslbek, Ladislav Saloun, Jaroslav Horejc and Frantisek Bilek.
The house of the Black Madonna (Dům u Černé matky boží)

The house of the Black Madonna is the host of the Czech Cubist Museum, exibiting works of Czech Cubism since its beginnings to the mid 50`s of the 20th century (E. Filla, J. Capek, B. Kubista).
Besides the Czech Cubism exhibition situated on the 2nd and 3rd floor, you can also visit the short-term exhibitions set on the 4th floor of the building. On the 5th floor you will find the studios of lectures’ department.
The Czech Museum of Fine Arts in Prague

Founded in 1963 as a regional gallery, the Czech Museum of Fine Arts began its activities at Nelahozeves Castle near Prague. In 1964 it opened a permanent exhibition of Czech modern art, which then went on till 1971. Today at the centre of the Czech Museum of Fine Arts, stand the three historical houses in Husova St in the Old Town district of Prague, reconstructed in 1971. In the present, these houses also stage the temporary exhibitions of 20th century and contemporary art. Further on, in 1994, the museum opened the newly reconstructed House of the Black Madonna in Celena St, Prague. The House today plays host to a permanent exhibition of Czech Cubism at the 4th and 5th floors. Interestingly, the House of the Black Madonna is a very important Monument of modern architecture and was built in 1911-12 by Josef Gocar.

The collection of the Prague Castle Gallery I contains around 400 paintings and drawings from the sixteenth to eighteenth centuries. Significant works of art are exhibited in the Prague Castle Gallery. Originally a collection of Emperor Rudolph II., it changed many times through the centuries. Nowadays, there are paintings arranged according to the school they belong to: the Dutch school, the German school, the Italian school etc. plus several works of art from the original collection of Rudolph II.
